DEATH SENTENCE in one form or another has existed in all societies right from the hoary past. In modern societies, particularly democratic societies, it is increasingly seen as barbaric and inhuman. As modern societies are expected to be humane and reformative it is time death sentence is replaced by other forms of punishmentS.
